초록
Gabriel Naudé는 17세기에 보편적 도서관 정신을 구현시킨 프랑스의 학자사서이자 도서관 사상가이다. 이탈리아에서 12년 동안 추기경들의 개인사서직을 수행하였으며, 프랑스에서 31년 동안 사서직을 수행한 경험을 바탕으로 오늘날 프랑스 도서관 정신의 정수인 <la Bibliothèque Mazarine>에서 그의 도서관 사상을 구현시켰다. 또한 그는 전문직으로서의 사서의 가치를 최초로 인식하였으며, 기원전 Callimachus의 도서관 정신을 계승한 학자사서이자 도서관 사상가로서 도서관계의 발전에 큰 역할을 담당하였다. 본 연구에서는 Naudé의 전 생애에서 ‘도서관 사상’을 꽃피게 한 <la Bibliothèque Mazarine>을 고찰하고 이들이 현재의 도서관에 미친 지대한 영향을 살펴보고자 한다.

Abstract
Gabriel Naudé is a great thinker and academic librarian in France who realized the spirit of universal public library in 17C. Based on the experiences of private librarian for 12 years in Italy and public librarian for 20 years in France, he concretized his thought for public library in ‘la Bibliothèque Mazarine’, which is the essence of the spirit of public library in France. He also realized the importance of librarians as specialists, for the first time, who played important roles in the development of the library community as one of the great thinkers of public library. The purpose of this research is to study ‘la Bibliothèque Mazarine’ where the spirit of public library had been prospered through the entire life of Gabriel Naudé.
